Preston Chipps, President Serra Mesa Village of San Diego (SMV) is a non-profit organization of Serra Mesa residents who have celebrated at least their 55th birthday. SMV is based on the Beacon Hill Village membership model (www.beaconhillvillage.org). Beacon Hill Village enrolled its first members in February 2002. There are currently more than 140 Villages and others are being started. Beacon Hill Village has been learning from experience as its Village matures. Their joy is to see variations on their model as other villages open.

SMV offers its members limited activities. The commitment is to enable resident members to live life to its fullest as they age in their own homes. We are a community built on friendship and participation in our calendar of events.

Serra Mesa Village can add to the quality of life for older residents by providing social contact, counteracting isolation. Why not join us?

We are a volunteer organization and work hand in hand with the larger community of Serra Mesa which is located on the rim of Mission Valley. As we grow and work together to continue our busy meaningful lives, we discover that we are among friends. We flourish as we study current trends in health and wellness, and realize what it means to have optimum health, physical and spiritual well-being.

Mission Statement: Serra Mesa Village is a membership organization developed by and for Serra Mesa Senior Adults aged 55 and older. Our purpose is to connect with each other and provide resources needed to maintain, support and enrich fully engaged adults as we age.

Our Purpose: People are living longer with active lives, yet increased mobility and smaller families mean that many of us find ourselves at some distance from close relatives. We want to create a network of social connections, events, information and support services that will permit us to live conveniently, safely and happily as we grow older – in our homes.

Serra Mesa’s geography is a community built on a mesa with intruding canyons providing open space. It’s nestled within the freeways of I-15, I-8 and I-805. Communities around us are Mission Valley, Kearny Mesa, Linda Vista and Tierrasanta. We remain primarily residential which assures us less traffic and a quiet neighborhood. We have a military presence with Lincoln housing.
